Accessibility statement

We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, which is the benchmark adopted by the Equality Act 2010 for public-facing websites in the UK. We also aim to be consistent with the EN 301 549 accessibility standard where it applies. Together these cover colour contrast, keyboard operation, text alternatives, clear structure, focus visibility and content that adapts to your settings.

We review this statement and audit the site against these standards at least once a year (most recently August 2026) and whenever a significant section of the site changes.

• Semantic headings and landmarks so screen readers can navigate each page in order.
• Keyboard access to every link, menu, form field and accordion, with visible focus styles.
• Text that reflows and stays readable when zoomed to 200% or viewed on a small screen.
• Descriptive link text and alternative text on meaningful images.
• Colour contrast checked against the AA thresholds for body and interface text.
• Motion and the background hero video respect the operating-system “reduce motion” setting.
• Labelled form fields with errors announced in text, not colour alone.

• Some older imported news articles may contain images without full alternative text; we are working through the archive.
• Answers from the AI assistant are generated at the time you ask, so their wording and reading level are not reviewed in advance.
• Third-party embedded content is outside our control and may not meet the same standard.

If any part of the site is hard to read, navigate or use, tell us how you would prefer the information. We will provide it in another format at no cost — for example:

• a plain-text or large-print version of any page or article,
• a summary of a guide over the phone, or
• a call to talk a specific report through with you.

Just say what you need and how you would like to receive it; no proof or special request is required.

We want to hear about anything that does not work for you. Please tell us:

1. the page address (URL) and the part of the page involved,
2. the technology you are using (browser, device, any assistive software), and
3. the difficulty you experienced and what you were trying to do.
